2012 Indonesia and I: Visiting Pulau Pari (Pari Island)

Date of trip: June 9-10, 2012
With whom: EY Jakarta Officemates

It was during June of 2012 that I came to realize that Indonesia’s the largest archipelago in the world! And by archipelago, that means, like the Philippines, it’s made up of thousands of islands, which made me dream of invading each of the major ones. :) And first on the list was Pulau Pari.

The ferry trip from Jakarta to the island was not everyone’s favorite part of the trip. Here’s why:

The pier’s not so clean, so to anyone who’s so maselan and maarte, this would be a turn off. :) But not me, I quite enjoyed this view… :) Especially this, inside the ferry:

See how we all tried to fit in inside the ferry; yes, we sat on the floor, with all the life vests scattered all over. And we had to endure this for more than 2 hours.

When we got to the island, we were welcomed by our tour guide, Mas Raffy, who led us to our cottage where we took a rest first, before we started off with our “tour”.

And here we are, ready to ride our bikes to our first “beach” visit…

And the cam-whoring began!

It’s not the kind of beach that you’d love to swim into… No, it’s not “swim-able” =) So, we just went sight-seeing…

And these were our fun attempts at doing a pre-nup shot with our favorite love team… :D

*ang kulit! salamat sa pagiging game! :)*

And how could we miss a group wacky pose!

And by wacky, we meant doing “peace signs”!!! :) And oh, I just love the color of our shirts here: black, white and pink! (so emo! haha!) We didn’t agree on that, by the way.. :)

After spending a couple of minutes around this area, we headed back home to take our lunch and prepare for the island-hopping and snorkeling. I felt a little stoked about snorkeling, because I so wanted to overcome my fear of it! :D

And here we are, trying to enjoy the view underneath the sea. We didn’t have underwater shots because the underwater-cam-owners were too scared to dip their cam! uh! :/ If I owned an O-Tough that time, I would have dipped it! :P

After an hour or so, we headed on to another island where we spent our time just walking around the entire stretch of the white-sand beach… But before walking around, here we are, striking a pose with the clear waters and the fine white sand! :)

Of course, cam-whoring wouldn’t be complete without the oh-so-famous jumpshot! :)

Too mainstream, right? We did it, anyway.. :)

After roaming around the island for about an hour under the scorching heat of the sun, we decided to head back to our cottage.

One of the best part of this island escape was this: foodtrip!

And to cap off the day, we played the so-called game “Quiz Night”, where Judie was the quiz master. :)

We slept early enough to be able to wake up at 5am in the hopes of catching the sunrise…

We made it early enough and waited for the sunrise, but then…it was too gloomy, the sun struggled its way out of the clouds…

Other groups of visitors were also at this part of the island, waiting for the sunrise… But then, it really was a gloomy Sunday, so we weren’t able to see the sunrise… Oh well, we should have checked for the weather forecast beforehand… :)

Though it was gloomy, the sea was still worth visiting… :)

After the failed attempt at catching the sunrise, we went back to our cottage for our breakfast before leaving the island… And then we’re back at the not-so-favorite pier… :)
